Update July 12, 2021: It was reported at the July 12 New Concord Village Council meeting that the project was delayed to begin July 12 or 13.
The Village of New Concord is replacing the water line along the Friendship Drive/State Route 83 corridor from John Glenn School Road south to Thompson Avenue. Work will begin Tuesday, July 6 and is estimated to continue until the end of September.
Detailed information has been mailed to residents directly affected by the project. Village staff and Stull Contracting will work closely with residents during the project.
Traffic will be impacted during work hours. Stull Contracting will be in charge of traffic control measures.
This is a major infrastructure initiative for New Concord, prompted by a number of water breaks and maintenance issues in the area.
The village has been working for the past several years to obtain financing for this project. Financing was completed a few months ago.
The village received $227,800 in grant funds from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), $200,200 in grant funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC), and $150,000 in loan funds from the OPWC. The remainder of the $610,000 project cost (planning through construction), $32,000, came from the Village of New Concord Water Fund Budget.
The village thanks residents for their patience and support during the improvement project.
