New Concord Mayor Jennifer Lyle has announced that Sheetz Food and Gas Station company has requested to build a location in New Concord.

Sheetz is requesting to build their location on the north side of Interstate 70 and the west side of State Route 83, near Dollar General.

“It’s a tremendous honor that New Concord was selected for this location,” said New Concord Mayor Jennifer Lyle.

Lyle said during the February New Concord Village Council meeting the first Planning Commission Meeting would happen on Feb. 17. That first meeting was between the committee and Sheetz discussing variances.

“We are very, very excited to have them here. We are looking forward to helping them in any way we can,” said Lyle.

Lyle said landscaping will need done, but no funding would be required from the village. This project is a private development of the convenience store company. No current foundations will need to be torn down for the construction of this site.

“This is a tremendous addition to our community,” said Lyle.

The next and final Planning Commission meeting will be on March 17 at Village Hall at 7 p.m. Sheetz will be presenting their site plan, including drawings and details of the entire foundation. This will be the final clearance Sheetz needs from the village.

Update March 18: The Planning Commission met on March 17 and approved to move forward with the Sheetz project.
