The New Concord Fire Department was dispatched to a garage and car fire on the 100 block of Hawthorn Drive on the night of Sept. 5.
No injuries are reported but the fire department estimated the loss to exceed $300,000 between the garage and its contents.
According to New Concord Fire Chief Matthew Hamsher, mutual aid from Perry Township and Cassell Station were called to assist with fire control.
Firefighters did encounter water supply issues from the municipal system and utilized mutual aid tankers to supplement supply.
The New Concord Fire Department encourages residents to check the batteries in smoke detectors and to exercise caution when using alternate means of power supply to homes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
