New Concord Village Council announced during the Dec. 9 Village Council meeting that changes are coming to the Route 40 village eastbound entrance.
Many homeowners’ cars line the sides of Main Street, making it hard to tell where Route 40 and Main Street merge. The village plans to add 195 official parking spaces to the sides of Main Street, including handicapped spots. Robert Dickson, New Concord Village Council president and Infrastructure Committee chair, said the merge area is dangerous.
“It would just be a way of trying to eliminate potential disaster…if someone crashes into a parked car or hits a pedestrian by adding an extra lane that isn’t there,” said Dickson.
The village is in the beginning stages of this project and is seeking cost estimates.
Any questions about the project can be directed to Village Hall at (740) 826-7671.
