The Village of New Concord welcomed three elected officials during a ceremony at Village Hall Thursday, Jan. 2.
Newly-elected mayor Jennifer Lyle, reelected council member and current president Robert Dickson, and newly-elected council member Levi Shegog were sworn-in by New Concord’s attorney, Scott Eickelberger, from Kincaid, Taylor & Geyer.
“I feel a combination of excitement and hope. We’ve got big shoes to fill and we’ve got a lot to do, but I think it’s going to be great,” said Jennifer Lyle, who ran against New Concord Mayor Brett Essex in 2019.
Levi Shegog is eager to begin his new role in the community.
“I’m really excited. This is a new adventure for me. I’ve always loved New Concord. I grew up here and moved back. I’m just really excited to hopefully help New Concord move forward but also maintain the charm of the village,” said Shegog.
The ceremony was open to the public. Over 40 community members attended the ceremony.
Lyle’s transition to the role of mayor has opened up her village council seat. Those interested in filling the remainder of the term, ending Dec. 31, 2021, should submit their application by Jan. 10.
