Muskingum University Mens Basketball came away with a key win Wednesday night at home against Oberlin 87-73 in the Anne C. Steele Center.
Sophomore Jarrell Marsh was the lead scorer for the team, racking up 22 points in the contest to pace the offense. Senior Rickey Wilson and first year Marcus Dempsey added 16 and 15 points to the effort, respectively.
The Muskies started out strong in the game, opening up a 25-9 lead halfway through the first half, before the Yeomen stormed back with an 11-0 run to cut the lead to 25-20 with 2:00 remaining in the period.
The Muskies then went on a 12-4 run of their own to take a 37-24 lead into the halftime break.
The second half belonged to the Muskies, with the team putting up 50 points in the half to take control of the game. The Yeomen attempted a late comeback with the Muskie starters sitting on the bench, before Head Coach Travis Schwab put the starting five back in to finish off the game.
The win gives the Muskies their best start in 10 years, as the men opened up the season with an unblemished 4-0 mark. The team currently sits in a tie for second place in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Muskies will put their unbeaten record on the line when they next see action on Saturday, Dec. 3, when they open up OAC play at home against John Carroll. WMCO will have the live call with pregame starting at 1:30 p.m.
