New Concord residents began receiving letters this week about the detailed changes to village-wide refuse and recycling collection beginning in March.

New Concord Village Council passed an ordinance to enter into a contract with Kimble Recycling & Disposal for village-wide residential refuse and recycling service. The ordinance passed with a 5-1 vote during the Feb. 11 council meeting.

Residents wishing to begin business with Kimble need to enroll in the service by Feb. 25 to receive refuse and recycling carts at no charge. Services include 95-gallon refuse and 65-gallon recycling weekly collections.

Collection days will be Wednesdays starting March 6. Carts need to be ready for pick-up by 6 a.m. each week. Recyclables do not need to be bundled by type as Kimble offers single-stream recycling.

Letters include payment forms to return to Kimble. The curbside refuse service includes recycling collection for $17.07 a month/$51.21 a quarter.

Residents over 65 years old can receive a senior monthly rate of $16.55. Senior residents need to send a copy of their driver’s license with the form received in the mail to verify age and residency.

Letters also include information for current Kimble customers living in the village. Those customers do not need to take any additional action to guarantee the service. They will automatically be updated to the services and will receive a 65-gallon recycling cart before March 6.

Additional Kimble services are also detailed, including obtaining extra refuse and recycling carts and bag services starting at $4 per month.

Refuse businesses other than Kimble servicing the village will make their last collections by Feb. 28.

Village Administrator Charlotte Colley said she is looking forward to the recycling portion of the new contract. “I’m very, very excited to have dedicated recycling for all of our residents, not just dumpsters for them to hopefully put their items in if there is enough space. So they’ll have more control over what they’re placing in their recycling and in their trash,” said Colley.

Kimble can be contacted for further information at 1-800-201-0005.
