Muskie Volleyball clinched their berth in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament on Senior Night Tuesday behind senior Katie Hunt’s career high 21 kills.
Hunt’s 21 kills pushed her up the leaderboard for most career kills, as she now ranks 6th all-time with 987.
The Muskies were dominant in the 3-1 match win, taking the first two sets by scores of 25-10, before falling in the the third set 28-26, but regained their momentum in the fourth and final set, securing the match victory with another 25-10 set win.
The win moved the Muskies to 15-12 overall on the season, with a 3-5 mark in the OAC. The Muskies secured a spot in the postseason tournament as well with the victory.
The team currently sits in the seventh spot in the conference standings with one match left to play in the season. The Muskies cannot move up in the standings having already lost to Baldwin Wallace and Otterbein, the two teams directly in front them.
Marietta sits just behind the Muskies with a 2-6 mark in the OAC. The Muskies defeated the Pioneers on Oct. 4, giving the Muskies the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Muskies will likely open the OAC Tournament as the seventh seed going on the road to face the second seed, which currently belongs to Heidelberg, on Nov. 1.
