Art exhibit features eastern Ohio artists

Muskingum University presents the art exhibition, “Imagination and Expression,” featuring 26 works of art by 19 artists from the east region of Ohio.

Professor of Art Dr. Yan Sun met with the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts this summer to pick artworks from their exhibition at the time to be featured now at Muskingum’s exhibition.

“I think about my students…how to select the best artworks for benefit for the Muskies,” said Dr. Yan Sun, Professor of Art at Muskingum University.

The “Imagination and Expression” exhibition is open until Sept. 23.

“All the artworks created by the artists include painting, drawing, collage, 3D sculptures, ceramics, and installations,” said Sun.

Sun wants his students to be able to understand the basic artworks from the blank of the paper and canvas.

Professor Jeannie Kennedy hosts a lecture and art demonstration at the Louis O. Palmer Gallery Sept. 16 at 2 p.m.

There will be three exhibitions in the Louis O. Palmer Gallery during Muskingum’s fall 2021 semester.  After “Imagination and Expression,” Sun will be inviting southern Ohio artists to feature their work. This exhibition will be called “The Spirit of Nature” will run from Oct. 6-Oct. 28.

The final exhibition of the semester will be Nov. 14-Dec. 7 and will feature works by Muskingum University students.

Palmer Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and by appointment.

Employees, students, and guests are required to wear face coverings in all campus buildings.
