New Concord Mayor Jennifer Lyle and New Concord Police Chief Mindy Peck recognized three New Concord police officers for their service at the Dec. 13 Village Council Meeting.
Sergeant Jeff Dawson was presented a Gallantry Star Medal and Commendation for courageous action in a highly volatile situation that threatened lives.
This is one of the highest honors in the police profession.
Dawson was presented this honor for responding to a dangerous situation on Sept. 29.
“We commend you for you exemplary efforts,” said Lyle.
Patrolman Dylan Young was presented an Honorable Service Medal and Commendation for assisting Sergeant Dawson in the September situation while he was off-duty.
Patrolman James Hunter, who has worked for New Concord Police Department for 21 years, was recognized with the Ready Commendation Medal and Commendation.
“You are always here. You go above and beyond and we really appreciate it,” said Lyle.
Council member Scott Sabino was recognized for his time serving on village council from January 2020-December 2021. Sabino’s term ends Dec. 31.
“When you speak we can count on insightful questions and thoughtful observations that always help us in our deliberations,” said Lyle.
Lyle presented Sabino with a Certificate of Appreciation for his service to the village.
