A new village council member has been appointed

Since the resignation of Kristi “KJ” Johnson on Oct. 30, New Concords village council was down a member. New Concord residents were invited to apply for the seat which would be filled by the councils appointment. 

During the village council meeting on Nov. 18, the council voted in executive session to appoint resident Garrett Killian to the vacant seat according to Administrative Assistant Joy Johnson.

According to Council President Steve Wooton, the council voted unanimously to appoint Killian to the seat. 

“He was raised in the community and has a family history of community involvement. We are pleased to have him join the Village Council,” Wooton said. “We look forward to his being a part of our village leadership as we work to make New Concord a wonderful place to live and work.” 

Killian will be sworn in prior to the next village council meeting on Dec. 9 according to Johnson with a date and time to be determined. Killian will fill this vacancy until the term ends on Dec. 31, 2025.
